Welcome to CAP, Inc., also known as aspiring ventures
Center For Aspiring Programmers, Inc. (CAP) is an official 501(c)3 non-profit operating in the state of California as a public charity. Center for Aspiring Programmers is committed to fostering public education in computer science, encouraging the development of problem-solving skills, and promoting computer science and STEM so that individuals who want to learn computer science have the support they need to learn and succeed in this advanced subject. Through educational efforts, we aim to provide environments open to the general public where ideas, opinions, and problems relating to computer science may be expressed and shared with others.
founded in Silicon Valley
In 2012, we started the Silicon Valley Youth in Computer Science, Inc. in order to address the growing need for computer science knowledge and talent. This organization was what would become later known as the Center for Aspiring Programmers Inc. After securing grants from local school boards, we began in-person computer science workshops, teaching people how to code in Java, Python, C++, PHP, and any other programming language our volunteer tutors knew. We held workshops, created programming resources, and hosted fun programming events like hackathons.

CAP, Inc. Today
After the COVID-19 pandemic, CAP, Inc. renewed its mission and purpose to educating the public about computer science beyond the classroom. Artificial Intelligence both threatens and promises changes to many industries. New emerging AI technologies such as Large Language Models (ChatGPT, Bard) are changing schools, virtual realities, and workplaces at a rapid rate. However AI also poses ethical and safety risks for the public. Similarly, new technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency hold a promise for a more advanced and distributed future, while also posing risks through fraudulent organizations. Few resources truly equip the public with the knowledge they need to understand how best to both utilize and protect themselves from these kinds of technologies.
Our volunteers
Our team consists of volunteers from around Silicon Valley and beyond, working in virtual teams. Our volunteers create accessible content in creative formats, such as whitepapers, reports, web applications, games, and more to illustrate the various emerging and disruptive technology and how it can impact our society. We aim to empower others to build with disruptive technology and speak confidently about its underlying innovations so that together we can build a future powered by inclusive and transparent technology.
